국문 초록

이 연구는 임용고사를 준비하는 대학교 학생운동선수의 학교생활과 문화적 특징을 이해하는 데 있다. 초ㆍ중등의 학생운동선수뿐만 아니라, 대학교 학생운동선수들이 반교육적 상황에 놓여있다는 연구결과들이 발표되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 대학교 학생운동선수들이 ‘학생’이라는 신분을 가지고 있음에도 불구하고, ‘운동선수’의 역할만을 강요받는 상황에서 ‘학업’을 병행하는 것의 의미에 대해 이해하고자 한다. 이러한 맥락에서 학생운동선수로 생활하며 학업을 병행하는 제보자 7명을 선정하였다. 대학교 학생운동선수들의 문화를 이해하기 위해서는 내부자적 관점이 요구되며, 이를 위해 질적연구 방법을 사용하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 연구결과는 학교생활과 그들의 문화적 특징을 네 가지로 범주화하여 제시하였다. 첫째, ‘도서관 문화’에서는 대학교 입학 초기에 학업에 대한 어려움을 경험하지만, 다른 학생운동선수와는 다르게 도서관에서 학업을 준비하는 것을 알 수 있다. 둘째, ‘또 다른 엘리트 문화’이다. 1등만 살아남는 운동선수의 특징과 같이 학업을 병행하는 학생에게도 우수한 학업성적을 거두지 않으면, 학업을 병행하는데 어려움을 겪는 것을 이해할 수 있다. 셋째, ‘절합(節合)의 문화’에서는 학생이라는 신분과 온전히 운동선수라는 역할을 수행해야 하는 상황에서 겪는 정체성의 혼돈을 이해할 수 있다. 넷째, ‘노량진을 바라는 문화’에서 는 임용고사에 몰입을 하고 싶지만, 그러지 못하는 과정에서 겪는 갈등을 기술하였다.

영문 초록

This study intends to understand schooling and the cultural characteristics for university student athletes who are preparing to be appointed as teachers. Previous studies have shown that university student athletes as well as elementary, middle and high school student athletes are under anti-educational situations. Therefore, this study intends to understand the meaning of learning under the same environment that university students are forced to play a role as ‘student athlete’, although they are in a position of a normal student. In order to achieve this, this study chose 7 informants who are university student athletes, while they prepare to become teachers studying their curriculums. At the same time, this study used qualitative research methods as it needs internal view points to understand the culture of university student athletes. This study examines their cultural characteristics and school life by establishing 4 categories for them. First, it is understood that student athletes face many difficulties whilst they are participating in schooling but they develop ‘Culture of Library’. Second, there is the ‘Another Elite Culture’ category. Student athletes simultaneously face difficulties as they need to achieve excellent performance in their studies. Otherwise, from their coaches and colleague they can not get any permission to attent academic classes. Third, it is understood that they face confusing identities in ‘Culture of Articulating’ as they have to carry out roles as both students and athletes. Fourth, in ‘Culture Wanting Norangjin’ it states that they face conflict as they can’t immerse themselves into preparing for the qualified teacher examination although they want to do so.
