ADHD성향을 가진 유아를 위한 음악치료가 행동에 미치는 영향연구

국문 초록

충동적 행동과 과잉 행동 등의 증상을 나타내는 ADHD(주의력 결핍과잉장애)는 유아기에 가장 흔한 장애로 초기에 치료해야 할 필요성이 있다. 이러한 ADHD 아동을 위한 기존의 치료방법에는 다양한 방법이 있었지만 약물치료요법이 가장 널리 사용되었다. 그러나 이러한 약물치료요법을 사회적 적응의 개선에는 효과적이지 못해 이와 병행할 수 있는 치료 프로그램의 사용이 요구되고 있다. 그런데 최근 음악 치료의 적용범위가 증대되면서 ADHD 유아 문제에 대해 이러한 음악치료요법이 시도되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 ADHD 유아를 위한 음악치료가 유아의 주의집중력과 친사회적 행동에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 실험 연구를 하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 주의집중력의 경우 대조집단은 사전, 사후점수 간에 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았지만, 실험집단은 평균점수가 유의하게 감소되었다. 즉, 프로그램 실시에 따라 주의집중력 항목의 점수가 감소하여 주의집중력이 향상되었다는 것을 알 수 있다. 이는 ADHD 유아의 주의집중력에 음악치료가 긍정적인 효과를 보인 것으로 생각된다. 둘째, 음악치료 프로그램은 친사회적행동 증진에 긍정적인 효과를 보였다. 친사회적행동에 있어서 두 집단 간의 변화를 살펴본 결과, 대조집단은 유의한 변화가 나타나지 않았지만 실험집단은 평균점수가 유의하게 향상되었다. 즉, 프로그램 실시에 따라 친사회적행동이 증가하였다는 것을 알 수 있다. 본 연구는 음악매체를 사용함으로써 ADHD 유아들이 주의집중력을 향상시키고 친사회적 행동을 증가함으로써 자신의 삶을 긍정적으로 보고 사회생활을 즐겁고 보람 있게 보내기 위한 접근으로서 의의가 있다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 ADHD 유아를 위한 체계적인 음악 치료 연구가 있어야 한다.

영문 초록

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) showing symptoms like impulsive or hyperactive behavior most frequently occurs in the infancy and needs to be treated in the incipient stage. Although there have been various ways to treat ADHD children previously, medicinal therapy is the most widely used treatment. However, such medication is not effective in improving their social adaptation, so it is required to develop some treatment program which can be used along with it. In the meantime, as the range of music therapy application has been extended lately, it comes to be used to treat problems of ADHD infants. Therefore, this study was performed to find out the effect of music therapy for ADHD infants on the concentrating ability and prosocial behavior of ADHD infants. The followings are the summary of the study results. First, for the concentrating ability, the control group did not show significant difference between the pre- and post-test results whereas the average score of the experimental group significantly decreased. In other words, the score of the concentrating ability item decreased due to the program execution, which meant their concentrating ability was improved. Thus, it can be inferred that music therapy influences ADHD infants’ concentrating ability positively. Second, it was shown that the music therapy program had a positive effect in improving their prosocial behavior. According to the results of examining the change of prosocial behavior in the two groups, the control group did not show significant change while the average score of the experimental group significantly increased; that is, it is thought that the program execution improved their prosocial behavior. This study concludes that the musical medium is meaningful as an approach to improve ADHD infants’ concentrating ability and prosocial behavior that they can view their lives more positively and lead their social lives more lively and desirably. In conclusion, systematic studies on music therapy for ADHD infants should be performed more afterwards.
