국문 초록

배경 및 목적: 본 연구는 언어발달지체 영유아들의 언어 및 의사소통 능력을 비교하고, 이들의 언어 및 의사소통 능력과 인지, 운동, 그리고 사회성 발달과의 관계를 살펴봄으로써 초기 언어 및 의사소통 발달과 인지, 운동 및 사회성 발달과의 관계를 살펴보고자 하였다. 방법: 연구대상은 언어발달지체 영유아 33명과 생활연령을 일치시킨 일반 영유아 33명, 총 66명의 영유아였다. 모든 영유아들에게 「영.유아 언어발달검사(SELSI)」와 「한국판 MacArthnr-Bates 의사소통발달검사(MB CDI-K)」를 이용하여 언어능력을 측정하였으며, '의사소통 및 상징행동척도(CSBS)' 절차를 이용하여 의사소통행동을 측정하였다. 또한 「한국 베일리 영유아발달검사Ⅱ(K-BSID-Ⅱ)」의 동작척도 및 인지척도를 사용하여 운동 및 인지기능을 측정하였으며, 「영유아선별.교육진단검사(DEP)」의 사회.정서 척도를 이용하여 사회.정서 발달을 측정하였다. 두 집단 아동들의 언어, 의사소통, 인지, 운동 및 사회.정서적 측정치는 대응표본 t-검정과 x2 검정을 통해 비교하였으며, Pearson 상관분석을 통해 각 집단별로 측정치들 간의 관계를 분석하였다. 결과: (1) 언어발달지체 집단은 언어 및 의사소통에서는 물론 운동, 인지, 그리고 사회.정서적 발달에서 일반 영유아 집단과 유의한 차이를 보였다. (2) 언어발달지체 집단은 베일리 검사의 운동발달연령과 DEP의 사회.정서 측정치가 언어능력과 정적상관을 보인 반면, 일반 영유아는 K-BSID-Ⅱ의 인지 및 운동발달연령이 언어능력과 정적상관을 보였다. 의사소통능력에서는 일반 영유아만 행동통제 기능과 '제스처', '제스처+발성' 수단이 K-BSID-Ⅱ의 인지 또는 운동발달연령과 유의한 상관을 보였다. 논의 및 결론: 본 연구의 결과는 언어발달지체 영유아의 언어 및 의사소통 행동 특성은 물론 인지, 운동기능, 사회성 발달 특성을 일반 영유아와 비교하여 설명하고, 이들의 언어 및 의사소통 행동을 인지, 운동기능, 사회성 발달과 관련하여 논의하였다.

영문 초록

Background & Objectives: The present study was designed to compare the language and communicative abilities of toddlers with and without language delays and to examine the relationships among language, communicative abilities, and the development of cognitive, motor, and social skills in these children. Methods: Sixty-six children (aged 19 to 34 months) participated in this study: 33 toddlers with language delays (LD) and 33 typically developing toddlers (TD). The toddlers in the two groups were individually age-matched (±2 months). SELSI and MB CDI-K were used to measure language abilities, and communicative abilities were measured using the CSBS procedure. The cognitive and motor developments were measured using K-BSID-II, and the subtest of DEP was used to measure socio-emotional development. Total score and subtests scores of the SELSI, MB CDI-K, K-BSID-II and the DEP percentile were measured. Communicative behavior sampled using the CSBS procedure was analyzed for the frequencies of communicative behaviors, communicative functions (behavioral regulation, social interaction, joint attention), and mean uses (gesture, vocalization, vocalization with gesture, word with gesture, word). Results: (1) The LD group revealed significantly poor performances in motor, cognitive and socio-emotional development, as well as for language and communicative abilities. (2) Significant correlations were found among language and communicative abilities and cognitive and motor development in both groups, and a correlation with development of socio-emotion was observed only in the LD group. Discussion & Conclusion: The results showed that children with LD were experienced delayed development of cognition, motor, and socio-emotion skills, as well as language and communication abilities. Their language and communicative abilities were closely related to these different developments, especially socio-emotion.
