국문 초록

  이 글의 목적은 미국대학에서 활용되고 있는 대학교육의 준비성모형을 분석하고, 대학생학력증진방안 및 신입생적응프로그램을 조사하는 것이다. 준비성모형은 대학에 입학하는 학생들의 기초학력을 증진시키고 적응을 돕기 위하여 고안된 교육 수준 결정모형이다. 대학교육의 준비성은 학습능력 요인과 환경요인으로 구분된다. 세부요인을 파악하기 위한 다양한 평가도구가 이용되며, 평가과정이 끝나면 대학생의 준비성에 적합한 교육프로그램을 제공한다. 예비교육프로그램, 학습센터 운영, 개별교습 및 동료협력 프로그램, 보충강좌 및 조기경보제도, 학습공동체 운영 등은 학생들의 기초학력을 향상시키고, 대학에서의 적응을 돕게 하기위해 대학이 고안해낸 학습능력증진 프로그램들이다. 이러한 미국대학들의 노력은 학생들의 기초학력저하 문제를 안고 있는 우리 대학교육에 여러 시사점을 제공한다.

영문 초록

  This study is to analyze the readiness model for higher education, and examine the programs to promote the academic performance of college students in the United States. This essays also find some suggestions and possibilities to help the college students in Korea by analyzing the experiences of the American colleges. The readiness model consists of "academic abilities" and "complexities of learning environment." By formulating the models, the different cares and services can be provided to college students. Many colleges and universities in Korea have had some problems to help unprepared students for college-level education. The colleges and universities have also sought a variety of academic programs to enhance the academic abilities of their students. The readiness models and the related academic programs of the Americanigher education might be helpful to find and develop the programs to promote the academic readiness of college students.
