초등학교 수행평가의 교육적 효과와 활용 방식

국문 초록

본 연구는 초등학교 교사들을 대상으로 교과별로 수행평가의 교육적 효과를 평가해보고 수행평가의 활용방식을 조사해보았다. 연구를 위해 5개 초등학교로부터 190명의 교사들을 선발하여 총 77개 문항으로 구성된 설문지를 실시하였다. 연구 결과로 교육적 효과는 교과별로 차이가 있다는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 교사가 기대하는 정도와 실제 성과를 거두었다고 생각하는 정도를 비교해본 결과는 실제 거둔 효과가 기대보다 낮다는 것을 보여주었다. 교육적 효과를 5개 하위영역(고등사고능력 향상, 창의력 신장, 실제 능력 개발, 흥미 향상, 사고 과정 이해)으로 구분하여 조사해보았는데, 이는 흥미 향상과 실제 능력 개발이 가장 성과가 높다는 것을 보여주었다. 한편, 교과별로 가장 선호되는 수행평가 방법들을 조사해본 결과, 교사들이 가장 바람직하다고 생각하는 방법과 실제 사용하는 방법은 도덕을 제외하고 모두 일치하는 것을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This paper evaluates the educational effects of performance assessment and examines performance assessment methods used by elementary school teachers respectively for the subjects of Ethics, Language, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Music·Art·Physical Education, and English. The data were collected from the survey of 77 items administered to 190 teachers of 5 elementary schools. The result showed that there were differences bewteen subjects for the educational effects of performance assessment. The actual effects were found to be lower than teachers expected. Among the subcategories of educational effects(higher mental ability, creativity, authentic ability, interest, cognition process understanding), performance assessment was considered to be most effective for improving students' interest and authentic ability. Meanwhile, there was a congruence between the methods considered as desirable and the ones used actually except Ethics. These imply that assessment methods should be selected and used with the consideration for the substance of the performance assessment and the characteristics of subjects. The appropriate use of methods will enhance the effects of performance assessment.
