구성주의 관점에 기초한 놀이에서 나타나는 유아의 추론과 사고 양상

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 구성주의적 접근에 기초한 놀이에서 나타나는 유아의 추론과 사고의 양상을 살펴보고 이를 통하여 유아의 사고를 촉진하기 위해 어떤 지원이 필요한지 알아보는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 우선 구성주의적 접근에 기초한 일상의 놀이 중에서 유아의 추론과 사고가 원활하게 일어나는 사례를 분석하고 그 특징을 살펴보았다. 연구참여자는 S시 C유치원의 만 3세, 4세, 5세 학급의 유아들이다. 연구를 위하여 해당 학급의 교사는 일과 중에 전개되는 놀이를 구성주의적 관점에서 지원하면서 관찰하고 기록하였다. 연구자는 교사들이 작성한 일지와 사진 등을 살펴보고 놀이 관찰과 면담을 하면서 유아들의 추론과 사고의 양상을 분석하였다. 놀이를 통해 나타난 유아의 사고 양상은 다음과 같다. 유아들의 놀이는 이전 경험의 기반이 될 때, 일상에서 벗어난 경험이 기억과 상상을 통해 실현될 때, 의도한 것을 성취하기 위해 궁리할 때, 자신이 유능하고 가치롭다고 느껴질 때, 마음을 전할 때 유아의 사고는 더욱 촉진되고 확장되었으며 유아들은 그 과정에서 기쁨과 만족을 느꼈다. 본 연구는 유아들이 일상의 놀이를 반성적으로 사고할 수 있도록 충분한 시간을 주어야 하며 교사가 유아의 추론과 사고를 관찰하여 적절한 자료를 주고 교사의 지원과 개입이 이루어질 때 추론과 사고를 촉진할 수 있다는 것을 보여준다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine children’s reasoning and thinking in regards to play focused on a constructivist approach, as well as to examine what support is needed to promote children’s thinking. To this end, everyday children’s play based on constructivist approaches were analyzed, and their characteristics were examined. The study participants were 71 children in the 3, 4, and 5-year-old classes at C kindergarten in S city. During the research, the teachers of the classes observed and recorded children’s play developed during the day from a constructivist perspective. The researchers then examined the journals and photos written by the teachers and analyzed the patterns of reasoning and thinking displayed by the children by conducting play observations and interviews. In circumstances where the play was based on children’s previous experiences, when the children’s experiences were realized through memory and imagination and they feel competent and valued, their thoughts are promoted and expanded while feeling a sense of joy and satisfaction in the process. This study reveals that reasoning and thinking can be promoted when children are given enough time in everyday play while appropriate materials and support from teachers are provided.
