창작 그림책에 나타난 부모의 성역할

국문 초록

본 연구는 창작 그림책에 그려진 부모의 특징에 대해 살펴보고자 부모가 동시에 등장하는 408권의 도서를 선정하여 부모의 출현빈도, 등장배경, 함께 등장하는 인물, 감정표현, 부모 행동 유형에 대해 분석하였다. 수집된 자료는 내용분석 후 빈도와 백분율로 처리하였다. 연구 결과를 요약하면 첫째, 그림책에서 아버지는 어머니보다 더 등장하였으며 둘째, 아버지보다 어머니가 집안에서 더 많이 등장하는 것으로 묘사되었다. 셋째, 아버지는 아들과 함께, 혼자 순으로, 어머니는 딸과 함께, 아들과 함께 순으로 등장하는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 아버지는 긍정적 감정을 어머니는 부정적 감정을 더 표현하였다. 다섯째, 아버지의 행동 유형은 일상생활 활동, 놀이접촉, 전반적인 터치 순으로 나타났으며 어머니의 행동 유형은 일상생활 활동, 전반적인 터치, 보육활동 순으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과를 토대로 본 연구에서는 우리의 아이들이 그림책에서 어떤 성역할에 노출되어 있는지 밝히고, 현대 사회에 바람직한 부모 모델에 대한 시사점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine father and mother’s characters portrayed in Picture Books, and to discuss desirable gender roles of father and mother for children in Picture Books. Totally 408 books were selected, and father and mother both appeared at the same book in all subjects. In the study, frequency of father and mother s appearance, appeared background, characters appearing with parents, and emotion expression and behavior pattern of parents were analyzed. The collected data were processed by content analysis of frequency and percentage. According to the study results, first, fathers are appeared more than mothers in picture books. Second, mothers are described as appearing more in the house than father. Third, fathers appear as the order of frequency, along with son, alone and with daughter, and mothers appear as the order of frequency, along with daughter, with son and alone. Fourth, fathers expressed positive emotions such as laughing more than negative emotions, but mothers expressed negative emotions more than positive emotions. Fifth, behavior patterns of fathers are shown to daily life activity, playful contact and overall touching as the order, and behavior patterns of mothers are shown to daily life activity, overall touching and childcare activity as the order. This study reveals gender role of parents exposed to our children in picture book, and discusses implications for preferred parent model in modern society.
