자유학년제 진로탐색 프로그램이 중학생의 진로개발역량에 미치는 효과

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 자유학년제 진로탐색 프로그램이 중학생의 진로개발역량에 미치는 효과를 알아보고, 진로개발역량 하위 영역과 성별에 따른 차이를 분석하는 것이다. 연구 대상은 충남 소재 A 중학교 1학년 27명을 실험집단으로 16회기에 걸쳐 진로탐색 프로그램을 실시하였으며, B 중학교 27명을 비교집단으로 선정하였다. 연구 분석은 진로개발역량 사전·사후 검사 자료를 토대로 기술 통계와 t-test를 사용하여 효과를 검증하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 진로탐색 프로그램을 실시한 실험집단은 비교집단에 비해 진로개발역량에서 유의미한 차이를 나타냈다. 실험집단의 진로개발역량은 자기이해와 사회성, 일과 직업세계 이해, 진로탐색, 진로설계와 준비의 하위 영역 모두에서 비교집단 보다 긍정적인 변화를 나타냈으며, 특히 진로탐색 영역에서 가장 큰 변화를 나타냈다. 둘째, 실험집단은 사전·사후 진로개발역량 비교에서 유의미한 차이를 나타냈다. 진로개발역량의 하위 영역 중 자기이해와 사회성을 제외한 모든 영역에서 긍정적인 변화를 나타냈다. 셋째, 실험집단은 성별에 따른 진로개발역량 차이를 보였다. 남학생의 진로개발역량은 일과 직업세계의 이해를 제외한 영역에서 여학생보다 더 큰 변화를 보였다. 본 연구 결과에 따라, 진로탐색 프로그램 참여는 진로개발역량에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나 프로그램 실시가 16회기로 한정되어 보다 더 장기적인 운영으로 진로개발역량에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대한 심층적인 연구가 필요하다. 그리고 자유학년제는 각 학교에서 자율적으로 교육과정을 편성하여 운영되므로 개별학교의 진로탐색 프로그램을 비교·분석하는 후속 연구의 진행이 요구된다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study it to examine the effects of career exploration program on the career development competency of middle school students in free year and assess differences in sub domain and gender disparity in career development competency. We selected twenty-seven first year students at A middle school who participate in our 16-week long self-exploration career program as experiment group; and twenty-seven first year students at B middle school without career exploration program as comparison group. We used descriptive statistics and Student’s t-test to examine the effects based on pre-post tests for career development competency. The results are as follows. First, compared to comparison group, experiment group which had career exploration program showed statistically significant difference in career development competency. While experiment group showed positive change in all sub domains such as self-understanding and sociability; work and understanding job world; career exploration; and career design and preparation, career exploration was the largest change. Second, experiment group showed statistically significant change in pre-post tests in career development competency. All sub domains in career development competency except self-understanding and sociability were positive changes. Third, there was gender difference in career development competency among experiment group. Male students showed bigger changes in all sub domain except work and understanding job world compared to female students. According to our research result, participation of career exploration program may have positive effect on career development competency. However, further study is needed to examine the factors for career development competency with long-term program since our program was just 16-week. In addition, follow-up study is also needed to compare career exploration programs of individual schools since free learning year program is planned and conducted in each school autonomously.
