베트남 유학생의 한국어 불안과 기대·가치·비용 양상 연구

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 국내 대학에 재학 중인 베트남인 학문 목적 학습자를 대상으로 한국어 불안과 학습에 대한 기대·가치·비용의 상호 관계를 분석하고, 이를 바탕으로 교육적 방안을 제시하는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 본고에서는 베트남인 유학생 152명을 대상으로 한국어 불안과 기대·가치·비용에 대한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 베트남인 학문 목적 학습자는 동료 또는 교사의 부정적 평가에 대한 불안이 가장 높았으며, 한국어 학습이 미래의 삶과 직업에서 유용할 것으로 판단하는 외재적 가치가 한국어 학습의 가장 중요한 동기로 작용하고 있음을 확인하였다. 그리고 한국어 수준과 신입생과 재학생에 따라 한국어 불안과 기대·가치·비용에 차이가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 불안이 높은 학습자들은 내재적 동기와 기대가 낮았으며 한국어 불안이 학습자의 기대·가치·비용 인식에 영향을 준다는 것을 밝혀냈다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 본고에서는 외재적 가치를 극대화할 수 있는 교육 방안 모색, 한국어 수준에 따른 수업 환경 구성, 학습자 개인의 불안 수준을 고려하여 불안을 낮추는 방향으로 대학 내 프로그램 운영 및 참여 등을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to analyze the interrelationship between Korean language anxiety and the expectancy-value-cost associated with language learning among Vietnamese academic learners enrolled in domestic universities, and to propose educational strategies based on these findings. To achieve this, a survey was conducted with 152 Vietnamese international students focusing on their Korean language anxiety and expectancy-value-cost perceptions. The study found that Vietnamese academic learners experienced the highest anxiety regarding negative evaluations from peers or instructors, while perceiving the extrinsic value of Korean language learning as a crucial motivator for their future life and career benefits. Furthermore, differences in Korean language anxiety and expectancy-value-cost were observed according to the learners’ Korean proficiency levels and whether they were freshmen or continuing students. It was also revealed that learners with high anxiety had lower intrinsic motivation and expectations, indicating that Korean language anxiety significantly affects learners’ perceptions of expectancy-value-cost. Based on these findings, this study suggests educational strategies that maximize extrinsic value, tailor class environments according to Korean proficiency levels, and implement university programs aimed at reducing anxiety by considering individual learners' anxiety levels.
