영문 초록

Lee Deok-Mu s interest in Ming and Ching literature and an aspect of his understanding of Ming and Ching literature were divided by time to examine the progress. Comments on literary persons and collections of works in the Ming and Qing Dynasty periods are frequently seen in the collection of Lee Deok-Mu s works, 『Cheongjanggwanjeomseo(靑莊館全書)』. This can be said to show the fact that Lee Deok-Mu was very highly interested in Ming and Ching literature and that he was not inconsiderably affected by Ming and Ching literature. Lee Deok-Mu could access Ming and Ching literature solely through ‘books(書籍).’ Lee Deok-Mu s life was a succession of avidly reading books and transcribing the books. The books read by Lee Deok-Mu were mostly those of new literary cliques brought from China. In particular, the perusal and recording of books from the end of the Ming Dynasty period and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty period account for a large part of the formation of Lee Deok-Mu s learning and literature as external factors. However, Lee Deok-Mu s access to Ming and Ching literature was not transient. Lee Deok-Mu unceasingly paid attention to the trend of the literary circle of China and made effort to accommodate the trend from when he was in late teens to when he was in early 50s. He accessed Jeon Gyeom-Ik(錢謙益) in his 10s, accommodated Gyeongneung clique(竟陵派) and Angong clique (公安派) in his 20s, immersed himself in documental archaeology in his late 30s to 30s and in Wang Sa-Jeong(王士禎) thereafter to widen the breadth of his learning and literature. When he was a youth in his 20s, Lee Deok-Mu had a great ambition that he wanted to achieve by devoting his life. It was pursuing erudition and leaving immortal writing. Lee Deok-Mu read not only Korean books but also Chinese and Japanese books ranging from ancient times to the Qing Dynasty period in time and left when he learned from the books as meticulous records. The perusal and recording of Ming and Ching literature is also a part of the process. Wanted to leave encyclopedic immortal writing, Lee Deok-Mu left 『Cheong『janggwanjeomseo』 consisting of 71 volumes of 33 books. 『Cheongjang『gwanjeomseo』 can be said to be the outcome of Lee Deok-Mu s attention to and understanding of Ming and Ching literature as well as the outcome of the life of Lee Deok-Mu who made hard efforts toward his dream.
