『蟾窩雜著』 소재 『上謹齋論文書』를 통해 본 蟾窩 李玄煥의 文論

국문 초록

본 논문은 蟾窩 李玄煥의 『蟾窩雜著』 소재 『上謹齋論文書』를 중심으로 이현환의 문론을 점검한 것이다. 이를 위해 먼저 2장에서 『蟾窩雜著』에 드러난 文章評 등을 살펴보고, 본 논문에서 중점 분석할 『上謹齋論文書』의 수신인 李觀休에 관해 조사하였다. 살펴본 대로 『上謹齋論文書』는 星湖學派 인물 중 하나였던 謹齋 李觀休에게 이현환이 올린 편지이다. 이 둘은 京畿道 安山 星湖 李瀷의 문하에서 수업하고 활동했던 재야지식인으로, 族叔과 族姪 관계이다. 李觀休는 성호학파 인물 중 篆書에 가장 뛰어났고, 서화취미 등 문예에 관심이 컸던 인물이다. 3장에서는 『上謹齋論文書』를 집중 분석하였다. 먼저 이 편지의 작성 경위를 살펴보고, 이후 편지의 내용 및 특징들을 문의 개념과 범주, 작문의 기본전제와 유의점, 작문의 자세 및 지향점으로 나누어 설명하였다. 이현환은 이관휴의 독단적인 문장평에 이의를 제기하며 『上謹齋論文書』를 구성하였다. 이현환은 자신의 논지에다 李奎報의 『答全履之論文書』와 申維翰의 『與任正言璞論文書』, 명나라 문인 宋濂의 『文原』글을 바탕으로 인용․축약․개작하여 이관휴를 설득시키는 방식을 취하였다. 이현환은 ‘문’의 개념을 天文․地文․人文 등으로 넓게 설정하고, 아울러 그 안에서 파생된 기사문․기언문․기물문의 종류도 밝혔다. 또한 작문의 기본 전제로 ‘養氣’와 ‘讀書’를 중요시했고 文氣를 배양하기 위해 유의해야 할 요소인 四瑕와 八冥․九蠹도 제시했다. 아울러 이현환은 作文에서 취할 자세는 모방에 있는 것이 아니라 文 고유의 체재와 의미를 터득하고 文의 본래 출발 정신으로 돌아가는 것임을 강조했다. 그 이면에는 문학 출발의 근원이었던 ‘六經’을 중시하는 학문적 연원이 함께 자리했다.

영문 초록

This thesis examines Lee Hyun-hwan s literary theory, focusing on 上謹齋 論文書 in 蟾窩雜著 by 蟾窩 李玄煥. To this end, I first checked the sentence reviews revealed in 蟾窩雜著 in Chapter 2, and investigated the recipient of 上謹齋論文書 which was analyzed in this paper. 上謹齋論文書 is a letter from Lee Hyun-hwan to 謹齋 李觀休, one of the Sungho school figures. The two are intellectuals who studied under the cult of Seongho Lee ik of Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, and are related to their uncle and nephew. Kwan-Hyu Lee was the best in 篆書 among the Seong-ho school figures, and he was very interested in literary arts such as calligraphy and hobbies. In Chapter 3, 上謹齋論文書 was analyzed intensively. First, I reviewed the writing process of this letter, and then explained the contents and characteristics of the letter by dividing it into the concept and category, the basic premise and points to note, and the attitude and direction of the writing. Lee Hyun-hwan objected to Lee Kwan-Hyu s dogmatic sentence review and composed 上謹齋論文書. Lee Hyeon-hwan takes a method of persuading Lee Kwan-hyu by citations, abbreviations, and rewrites based on Lee Gyu-bo s 答全履之論文書, 申維翰 s 與任正言璞論文書, and the Ming Dynasty writer 宋濂 s 文原, Lee Hyun-hwan broadly set the concept of 文 as 天文, 地文, and 人文, and also revealed the types of articles, essay sentences, and articles derived from them. He also emphasized 養氣 and 讀書 as the basic premise of his writing, and suggested 四瑕 and 八冥․九蠹 to cultivate 文氣. In addition, Lee Hyun-hwan emphasized that the attitude to be taken in the writings is not in imitation, but rather to learn the original format and meaning of the 文 and pay attention to the original starting spirit of 文. On the back side, there is an academic origin that emphasize 六經, which was the source of the beginning of literature.
