국문 초록

이 논문은 기존의 역사 연구의 인식론과 방법론을 비판하고 여성사를 통해 젠더화된 역사에 대한 문제의식을 드러내며 이를 수정하기 위한 인식론과 방법론을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이 논문은 크게 다음과 같이 구성된다. 첫째, 여성사 연구가 기존의 역사 이해와 연구의 지배적인 방법론을 넘어서기 위해서는 인식론과 방법론을 명확히 제시하는 이론화 작업이 필요하다. 이를 통해 다양한 주체와 그 주체의 입장이 반영된 전체사를 이룬다는 것을 밝힌다. 둘째, 젠더관계가 곧 정치적 관계이며 젠더관계를 통해 역사를 볼 경우 정치사의 범위가 새롭게 정의되면서 여성 정치사는 객관성을 대체하는 다양성과 그것을 위한 방법을 제시할 수 있다. 정치적 관계를 고려할 때 객관성이란 무의미하며 도덕적 정당성이 역사에도 적용되어야 함을 논의한다. 셋째, 새로이 제시된 인식론과 방법론을 적용할 때 한국 여성 정치사의 내용의 핵심을 보여준다. 여기서는 구술과 비공식 자료들을 이용하는 방식이 소개되며, 해방 이후 미군정 시기, 전쟁과 복구, 그리고 산업화와 개발 독재가 여성에게 어떤 의미인가를 보게 된다. 그리고 중요한 것은 여성의 소외와 갈등이 1970년대를 넘기면서 본격화되는 한국의 민주화 운동에 어떤 역할을 하는 가를 보게 된다.

영문 초록

This paper aims at criticizing the existent epistemology and methodology of histo-rical research, and presenting the way to criticize and revise the gendered history. This paper, first, presents the way to overcome the limit of the existent historical study, emphasizing subjectivity of the diverse agents who form the whole history. Second, it argues that gender relationship is itself political relationship and is the base of power relations between the gendered state and women as well as that between women and men. As a result research subjects and research methods for political history will be enlarged. New conceptualization of history emphasizes that the objectivity without considering diverse actors in history is meaningless and moreover is not moral. Third, the review of the selected era, applying the feminist epistemology and methodology verify that the relationship among the state, society, and gender should be explored and that history must be reinterpreted including all of the perspectives and experiences by those diverse actors. It is important to see what and how the gender structure influence on women’s life in such transition period as the US Occupation after independence, before and after the Korean War, and industrialization and dictatorship. Finally this research shows that women workers movement is critical for the direction of democratization in Korea.
