국문 초록

초기 교회부터 기독교는 전통적으로 성경을 신앙의 표준이요, 신학적 주장의 원천으로서 그 권위를 흔들림 없이 인정해 왔지만, 계몽주의와 낭만주의의 영향 하에서 출현한 자유주의 신학은 기독교를 현대 정신으로 재해석하는 과정에서 전통적 성경의 영감과 권위를 인정하지 않고 기독교의 본질적 진리들을 부정하게 되었다. 이에 대한 반동으로 출현하게 된 것이 근본주의 신학인데, 사실상 이것은 전통적 기독교와 개신교 종교 개혁 전통을 그대로 물려받아 성경을 단어 하나하나까지 영감받은 책으로 인정하였다. 이렇게 자유주의와 근본주의 간의 싸움의 초점이 된 것은 다름 아닌 성경의 권위 문제였다. 자유주의 신학이 성경의 오류성 때문에 신적 권위를 거의 지니지 않는 인간의 작품으로 성경을 간주하는가 하면, 근본주의는 성경을 하나님의 무오류의 계시로서 그리스도인의 삶의 표준이 되는 책으로 본다. 본 연구는 두 대조되는 성경관을 비교함으로써 둘 사이의 중간 지대의 가능성을 찾아보고자 한다. 이런 과정에서 근본주의의 한계를 극복하면서 자유주의의 허점을 해결하고자 시도한 신정통주의 또한 논의의 대상으로 포함시켰다. 두 모델을 비교한 결과 성경의 영감은 신적 메시지가 없는 성경 저자 개인의 경험이나 그의 경험이 배제된 신적 메시지 둘 한 쪽에만 치우친 것이 아닌 성경 저자의 전인격에 주어진 것임을 알 수 있다.

영문 초록

Since the early church, Christianity has traditionally recognized the Bible as a standard of faith and a source of theological authority, but liberal theology, which emerged during the Enlightenment and was influenced by Romanticism, in the process of reinterpreting Christianity with modern spirit has not accepted the inspiration and authority of the Bible and has denied the essential truths of Christianity. Fundamentalism emerged as a reaction to this, and in fact, it inherited the traditions of traditional Christianity and Protestant Reformation and recognized that every single word of the Bible was inspired. It was the issue of authority of the Bible that became the focus of this fight between liberalism and fundamentalism. While liberal theology regards the Bible as a human work that has little divine authority because of the errors in the Bible, fundamentalism sees the Bible as God’s infallible book and the standard of Christian life. The purpose of this study is to find the possibility of an alternative between the two contrasting views of the Bible. In this process, while overcoming the limitations of fundamentalism, Neo-Orthodoxism attempted to solve the weaknesses of liberalism. Comparing the two models, we can see that the inspiration of the Bible was not given to the personal experience of the prophet without the divine message or to the divine message without the prophet’s experience, but to the entire personality of the prophet.
