국문 초록

본 연구에서는 풍수에 대한 연구사 검토를 통해 과거의 공간인식으로서 풍수를 어떻게 다룰 것인가 라는 문제와, 풍수적 인식이 고지도에 반영, 재현되는 과정과 결과에 대해 기존 연구에서 제기한 부분들을 검토함으로써 이를 어떻게 해석할 것인가 라는 문제를 제기하였다. 이러한 문제 제기를 통해 풍수적 사고도 시대와 장소의 변화에 따라 다양하게 변화되고 혼종된 사고체계이며, 그 재현 방식과 결과의 해석 역시 매우 다종다기할 수 있다는 점을 다시금 확인하고자 하였다.

영문 초록

In this article, former historical studies regarding geomancy are examined, in order to determine the most adequate way to deal with the issue in the task of analyzing the past people s recognition of space. Also examined are questions like how the thought patterns based upon geomancy were reflected in old maps as well as how former historical studies regarded such elements inside those maps, as we have to come up with the most appropriate way to interpret the intentions of the people who created those maps. Such examination will reveal that geomancy and related beliefs continued to change with time periods and regions. So before we try to identify the manner in which such beliefs would have been integrated into something, we should be aware that there were so many ways for them to be employed, and that our minds should be open at all time so that we could embrace and appreciate a variety of interpretations.
