국문 초록

본 연구는 보건소에서 제공하는 담당자의 커뮤니케이션 기술에 대해 자신과 주민이 어떻게 인식하고 있는지를 상호지향성 모델을 적용하여 객관적 일치도(agreement), 주관적 일치도(congruency), 정확도(accuracy) 등을 분석하였다. 이를 위해서 보건담당자 263명, 주민 1146명을 대상으로 설문조사를 하였다. 분석결과를 종합하면, 보건소 담당자들은 자신들의 커뮤니케이션 활동에 대해 주민들의 평가보다 스스로를 더 높게 평가했다. 또한, 주민들이 자신들의 커뮤니케이션 활동을 과소 평가한다고 생각했다. 그러나 실제 주민들이 평가한 보건소 담당자들의 커뮤니케이션은 보건소 담당자들의 추측한 주민들의 평가 점수보다도 더 낮았다. 주민들은 보건소 담당자들이 자신들의 커뮤니케이션을 과대 평가할 것이라고 추측했다. 본 연구는 보건소 담당자들의 보건커뮤니케이션 교육의 기초자료가 될 수 있다. 나아가 보건소 담당자들의 스스로에 대한 평가와 주민들의 인식의 차이를 좁히기 위해 서로의 입장을 이해하려는 노력이 필요할 수 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The aim was to find out whether health workers’ perceptions of their own communication skills were different from or consistent with those of residents in a health center setting. The co-orientation model was used to analyze interactions between health workers and residents through three key measures: agreement, congruency, and accuracy. For the analysis, a survey targeting 263 health workers and 1,146 residents was conducted. The analysis revealed that the health workers perceived their own communication activities more highly than the residents perceived their own. Moreover, they presumed that the residents had a tendency to underestimate their communication activities. Furthermore, the residents’ actual perception of the health workers’ communication activities was lower than what the health workers estimated the residents’ perception to be. The residents presumed that the health workers had a tendency to overestimate their communication activities. These results will be helpful in designing future education programs on health care communication for health workers. Another important implication is that both health workers and residents should make efforts to understand each other’s position and narrow down the discrepancy in self-estimated and actual perception between health workers and residents.
