국문 초록

본 연구는 1920~30년대 출생하여 해방과 한국전쟁 전후로 결혼한 여성들의 구술생애담을 대상으로, 여성들의 결혼 윤리와 인정의 서사 구성 에 대해 살펴본다. 한국은 20세기 초반부터 근대적 결혼 담론이 활발하게 구성되고 논의되었다. 하지만 남녀평등, 사랑, 상호존중을 중심 가치로 삼는 근대적 결혼 제도가 일상에 정착하기까지 오랜 시간이 필요했다. 많은 여성들이 전근대적 결혼 제도와 도덕에 포획되어 시련과 고통을 겪었다. 특히 기혼 여성들은 남편의 혼외관계 여성을 대면하는 일이 비일비재했다. 기혼 여성들은 ‘밖에서 들어온 여성’들과 대면하면서 존재성 보존을 위해서 인정투쟁을 전개한다. 이 과정에서 여성들은 자신을 끊임없이 괴롭혔던 전근대적 결혼 도덕을 내면화 시키면서 ‘안’의 윤리를 구성하였다. 기혼 여성들은 ‘밖에서 들어온 여성’과 인정투쟁을 전개 하면서 한 남편의 아내로서 정체성을 벗어나 한 집안의 여자로서 정체성을 재발견하게 된다. 기혼 여성들의 구술생애담은 서사 정체성 재정립 과정을 보여주는데, 이를 ‘인정의 서사’라 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 여성들의 구술생애담 속에 나타난 결혼의 윤리와 인정의 서사 구성에 대해 살펴보고 있다.

영문 초록

On a target of the oral life stories of women who were born in the 1920s and 1930s and married before and after the Korean War, this study examines women’s acceptance of marriage ethics and constitution of narrative recognition. Since the early 20th century, modern marriage discourse has been actively organized and discussed in Korea. However, it took a long time for a modern marriage system that takes gender equality, love, and mutual respect as central values to settle in everyday life. Many women suffered trials and sufferings obsessed by the premodern marriage system and morality. Especially, married women frequently got confronted with their husbands extramarital sexual affairs. Married women develop struggle for recognition to preserve existence while confronting women who come from outside. In this process, women internalized the morality of premodern marriage, which constantly tormented them, and constituted the ethics of inside . Married women develop struggle for recognition with a ‘woman who comes in from outside’ and out of their identity as a husband s wife and rediscover their identity as a woman in a family. Married women s oral life stories show the process of redefining narrative identity which is called narrative of recognition . This study examines the ethics of marriage appearing in the oral life story of women, and constitution of narrative of recognition.
