국문 초록

본 연구는 한국중부발전의 윤리경영 사례를 소개함으로써 윤리경영의 중요성을 일깨우고 지속적인 윤리경영의 전략수립과 실천을 위한 시사점을 찾고자 한다. 이를 위해 윤리경영의 개념을 살펴보고, 한국중부발전의 윤리경영 실태를 분석하였다. 윤리경영은 공리주의, 권리론, 정의론과 같은 다양한 이론적 접근에 따라 다르게 이해될 수 있지만, 본 연구에서는 윤리경영을 기업의 의사결정과 실천과정에서 이해관계자들의 권익과 기업의 경제적 이익의 균형을 유지하고 이해관계자들로부터 존중과 신임을 얻는 경영활동으로 정의하였다. 한국중부발전은 2001년 창립하여 전략자원의 개발과 전력공급을 주목적으로 6개의 발전소를 운영하고 있다. 한국중부발전은 깨끗한 에너지를 통해 국가발전에 기여한다는 미션을 가지고 있으며, 윤리경영추진체계를 정립하여 사회적 가치실현 분과위원회 등에서 가시적인 성과를 보이고 있다. 또한, 사회공헌활동을 통해 중소기업과 함께 공유가치 창출 사업을 추진하고 있으며, 해외에서 빈곤퇴치 및 에너지 자립을 지원하고 있다. 이와 같은 한국중부발전의 윤리경영 사례는 공기업을 넘어서 사회 전반에 걸쳐 윤리경영의 확산을 위한 관심과 노력을 더욱 촉발하는 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

This study pursues to raise awareness of the importance of ethical management and to draw implications for developing strategies and implementation of continuous ethical management by introducing the case of KOMIPO (Korea Midland Power Co., Ltd.). To do this, the concept of ethical management was reviewed and the ethical management systems and activities of KOMIPO were analyzed. In this study, ethical management is defined as the business activities in which a corporate balances stakeholders’ interests as well as its economic interestes in making decisions and gain respect and confidence from stakeholders. KOMIPO, which is operating six power plants, was established in 2001 to provide strategic resources and power supply. KOMIPO has a mission to contribute to national development through clean energy production, and has shown visible achievements in social value realization by creating a system for ethical management. In addition, through social contribution activities, we are promoting shared value creation projects with small businesses and supporting poverty and energy independence overseas. This case of KOMIPO is expected to be an example of more interest and effort in spreading ethical management by public corporations.
