자아정체성이 청소년 비행 및 범죄에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 청소년기 비행의 증가와 지속의 원인을 종단데이터의 분석을 통해 확인하는 것이다. 기존 연구들에서는 자아정체성이 청소년 발달론적 입장에서 그 개념이 사용되어 왔지만 최근의 논의는 이러한 자아정체성이 범죄와 비행의 시작, 그리고 지속의 원인이 될 수 있다는 입장이다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 청소년 비행 및 범죄행동의 변화 원인을 자아정체성을 중심으로 파악하고자 한다. 연구를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원의 아동청소년패널데이터를 활용하여 잠재성장분석모델을 통해 비행 및 범죄행동의 변화를 검증하고자 했다. 연구결과 Sampson과 Laub의 논의와 다르게 청소년기는 내면적 변화인 자아정체성은 비행 및 범죄행동의 변화에 유의미한 영향을 주는 변수가 아님을 확인 할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 이론적 논의를 지지하는 연구결과가 아니더라도 연령-등급이론 안에서 중요하게 강조되는 개념에 대한 고찰을 이끌어낸 연구였다. 즉, 청소년기는 성인기와 다르게 자아정체성과 같은 내적 변화는 비행 및 범죄행동의 변화에 영향을 주지 않는다는 것이다. 따라서 연령-등급이론의 비행 및 범죄행동의 변화에 대한 논의는 적어도 청소년을 대상으로 할 때 내적 변화가 아닌 또 다른 중요한 개념인 사회적 자본을 통해 분석이 시도되어야 한다는 점을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to identify the cause of the increase and persistence of adolescent delinquency through the analysis of longitudinal data. In previous studies, the concept of self - identity has been used in adolescent developmental perspective. However, recent discussions point out that this self-identity can be the cause of crime, the beginning of delinquent, and continuity. Therefore, this study focuses on the causes of change in juvenile delinquency and criminal behavior with focus on self identity. For the study, we tried to verify the change of delinquent and criminal behavior through the potential growth analysis model using the data of child and adolescent panel of Korea Youth Policy Institute. As a result of the research, it was confirmed that the self - identity, which is the internal change, is not a significant variable for the change of the delinquent and criminal behavior. These results were not a result of research supporting the theoretical discussion, but were a study that elucidated the concept which is emphasized in the age - grade theory. In other words, adolescence s self - identity does not affect the change of delinquent and criminal behavior. Thus, the discussion on the change of age -grade theory and criminal behavior suggests that analysis should be attempted through social capital, which is another important concept, at least when it is targeted at adolescents.
