<金現感虎>에 나타난 虎女의 형상과 주제의식

국문 초록

<金現感虎>의 주제는 대략 사랑, 희생으로 요약되었다. 虎女와 金現의 사랑, 세 오빠와 사랑하는 사람을 위한 희생이 <김현감호>를 이해하는 주요한 관점이었던 것이다. 본고는 이런 관점에 대한 문제의식에서 출발한다. 호녀는 衆生의 구제를 지향하는 大乘佛敎의 磁場에서 ‘지혜로운 어머니’의 영향을 받으며 성장했으며, 그 과정에서 虎患에 의한 인간의 고통에 대하여 심중한 문제의식을 지니고 있었다. 호녀가 三虎에게 제시한 ‘멀리 달아나서 스스로를 징계하라[遠避而自懲]’는 제안은 호랑이와 인간, 야생동물과 인간의 相生을 구현할 수 있는 중요한 사유로 화해와 평화, 공존의 염 원이 담겨있다. 호랑이와 여자라는 두 가지 정체성을 지니고 있는 호녀는, 호랑이가 지닌 靈性함을 여자만의 고유한 特長으로 승화시켜 발휘하였다. <김현감호>는 호녀가 ‘받아들임’을 實現하는 과정이다. 호녀는 여성 고유의 특질인 ‘받아들임’의 德을 통해 세상의 갈등을 화해로 전환시킨 것이다. <김현감호>는이 과정을 ‘갈등과 해소의 지속적 變奏’를 통해 담담하게 담아내는데 성공 한 작품이다. 호녀의 형상은 ‘發話’ 양상을 통해 구체적으로 파악할 수 있다. 호녀의 발화에는 자신의 처지에 대한 부정적 언술이나 감정의 표출이 나타나지 않는다. 줄곧 이성적이며 합리적인 존재이고, 넉넉한 마음을 지니고 있는 모습이다. 생각은 치밀하면서도 광대하며 ‘현재와 미래’에 대해 유기적으로 사고할 줄 알고, 행동은 단호하다. 나아가 자신의 소망도 밝힐 줄 안다. 호녀 는 합리적 사유와 종합적 판단력을 지닌 주체적이고 지혜로운 인물로 菩薩의 형상이라 할 수 있다. 김현은 호녀의 菩薩行･利他行에 대한 감동을 평생 마음에 품고 지내다가 죽음을 앞두고 <虎願>을 지었다. 그 결과물이 ‘成傳’하여 一然의 손을 거쳐 우리와 만나게 되었던 것이다. <김현감호>가 그것이다. <김현감호>는 흥륜사의 탑돌이 행사에서 보이는 불교적인 색체가 작품을 관통하면서 호녀의 보살행으로 발현되었고, 급기야 대중 구제를 위한 상징물의 효험이 500년 동안 유지되며 지속되는 감동을 드러낸 작품이다. 호녀는 ‘상대적인 私를 바쳐서 절대적인 私를 얻은, 진정한 나[眞我]를 찾으려 했던’ 주체적 인물이다. <김현감호>는 이 모습을 성공적으로 담아내었다.

영문 초록

The themes of are roughly summarized as ‘Love’ and ‘Sacrifice’. The main points of view understanding the fable, , are the love between a tiger woman and a man called “Mr. Hyun Kim” and the tiger woman’s sacrifice for her three evil brothers and a lover who is a human being. This study starts from a critical mind against such points of view. The tiger woman grew under her ‘wise mother’ who walks the own straight path as a principle of ‘Mahayana Buddhism’ that seeks for the relief of all living things. During the procedure, she had a prudently critical mind about some strong pain of a person hurt by a tiger. The advice suggested by the tiger woman to three brothers of hers, ‘Please punish yourselves after running far away.[遠避而自懲]’, contains her wish for ‘Reconciliation’, ‘Peace’ and ‘Coexistence’ between tigers and human beings as some important reasons for realizing the coexistence between wild animals and human beings. The tiger woman that has two kinds of identities, that is, ‘a tigress’ and ‘a woman’ presented her own divine nature as a tigress after subliming them as her unique special strengths. is a process which a tiger woman practices ‘acceptances’ during her daily life. The tiger woman converted many conflicts over the world into reconciliation by using the virtue of acceptances as her unique special personality. is a story which is successful in serenely expressing such a procedure by using the continuous variation of conflicts and reconciliations. The image of the tiger woman can be comprehended specifically watching her looks while she speaks. Her speeches do not express any negative words or emotions regarding to her unfavorable situations. Her image is expressed as a rational and sensible being which has a broad mind. Her thought is meticulous and extensive and she can think organically of ‘the present and the future’ while her actions are stern. Furthermore, she can express her wishes, too. It can be said that she has an image of a ‘Bodhisattva’ s an autonomous and wise character having here rational thoughts and comprehensive judgement. Although Mr. Hyun Kim had lived while having had his mind touched by the tiger woman’s behaviors done like a ‘Bodhisattva’ and for other peoples during his lifetime, he had to live for around 40 to 50 years while having felt burdened without having disclosed the fact to the world. While having done so, he wrote a story, “HO WON (A Tigress’ Wishes)” on the verge of death. The outcome had been orally transmitted widely and a monk, “Il Yeon” revised the story. That is the novel, . Buddhism ideologies which are expressed by a Pagaoda-Walking-Around Event at Heungryun Temple are contained through the fable, , and the story became a motive for the behaviors of Bodhisattva that were practiced by the tiger woman and, after all, the efficacy of the symbolic icon for relieving the people has been maintained for around 500 years and the story expressed the continuously maintained touched emotion. The tiger woman is an autonomous character who tried to find out a real true ego as a being who sacrificed her relative private being while having obtained her absolute private being. expresses such a story successfully.
