국문 초록

본고는 19세기말부터 1960년대까지의 시기를 대상으로, 이 시기 전개된 근대적 언어관과 국어정립 활동의 상호 영향 관계를 살펴보며, 한국의 국어 정립 과정에 나타난 특수성을 설명하는 데 목적이 있다. 이와 관련하여 본고에서 주목한 것은 한국의 국어정립 기가 한일병합, 해방, 분단, 한국전쟁 등 역사적 격변으로 점철되었고, 이러한 상황에서 국어정립 활동에 임하는 주체들의 현실 인식과 국어관이 복잡한 양상을 띠었다는 사실이다. 이는 한국의 국어 정립 과정을 부르주아 민족 주의자들이 주도하였던 서구의 근대 국민어 수립 과정과 동일시할 수 없다는 것을 의미한다. 이에 본고에서는 근대 초기 국어 정립 활동과 관련하여 대두된 언어관이 ‘일제강점기의 민족어 정립’과 ‘남북분단기의 국어 정립’ 과정을 거치며 어떻게 수용되고 배척되고 분화되었는지 살펴보면서, 국어 정립이라는 과제를 수행하는 데에서 나타난 한국적 특수성을 설명하고자 하였다. 2장에서는 근대 초기 형성된 탈중화 의식이 근대민족국가에 대한 기대감 및 국권 상실에 대한 위기의식과 결합하면서 어문민족주의로 이념화되는 양상에 주목하였다. 3장에서는 식 민지로 전락한 상황에서 진행된 어문 운동의 논리를 살폈다. 어문민족주의에 대한 비판논리를 검토하며 언어관이 다변화하는 양상을 살폈으며, 이 과정에서 마르크스주의 어문학자와 실증 주의 어문학자들이 어문정리 활동에 개입하게 된 맥락에 주목하였다. 4장 에서는 국어를 재건하는 과정에서 제기된 국어 재건의 논리들을 살펴보면 서, 해당 논리의 역사적 맥락에 주목하 였다

영문 초록

This study endeavors to explain Korean uniqueness in the modern process of language arrangement by tracing correlations between the modern views of language and the practical activities of Korean establishment from the late 19th century to the 1960s. The study focuses on periods of Korean language establishment, which were marked by major historical events including Japanese Annexation of Korea, liberation, separation, and the Korean War. Subjects involved in the activities of Korean establishment displayed complex patterns of reality perceptions and views of Korean, which suggests that the process of Korean establishment cannot be identified with the modern process of the West s national language establishment led by bourgeois nationalists. The study set out to examine how the views of language that emerged in relation to the activities of Korean establishment in the early modern days were accepted, excluded, and segmented through the processes of establishment of national language during Japanese rule and establishment of Korean during the division between the two Koreas, to explain the Korean uniqueness observed in the process of performing the task of Korean establishment. Chapter 2 focuses on the patterns of escape from Sino-centrism formed in the early modern days, which combined with expectations for a modern national state and a sense of crisis of losing the national rights, which then converted into language nationalism. Chapter 3 examines the patterns of language arrangement activities carried out in the colonized situations and those of views of language being diversified by reviewing the critical logic of language nationalism. In the process, the investigator notes the context in which Marxist and positivist linguists became involved in the activities of language establishment. Chapter 4 investigates the logistics of Korean reconstruction raised in the process of reconstructing Korean, taking notice of the historical context of each piece of logic.
