국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 첫째, 유아교육에서의 발현적 교육의 의미는 무엇인지 둘째, 발현적 유아교육 과정이란 어떻게 구현되어야 하는지를 탐색해 보는데 목적이 있다. 연구결과, 아동을 무언가 받아들 이는 존재가 아니라 그 자체로 완전한 존재로 보는 자연주의, 낭만주의 교육에서의 발현성은 아동 본성의 개화와 생명력의 회복에 중점을 두고 있다. 진보주의, 구성주의 이론에서의 발현성은 공동체적 소통을 통한 지식의 구성과 몰입과 탐구를 통한 사고의 발현에 중점으로 두고 있다. 두 가지 전통 모두 아동의 자발적이고 능동적인 학습을 통해 고유성, 잠재성의 발현을 교육의 기본으로 보며, 발현적 교육과정 운영에서 중점 두어야 할 것은 유아의 고유한 능력의 발현에만 집중하여 아동이 수월성을 갖게 하는 것이나 지식의 축적으로만 접근하는 것이 아니라 아동이 둘러싼 환경, 지식 공동체 안에서의 대화와 타협, 소통을 통한 공동의 의미구성과 삶으로의 교육을 실천하는 것이다.

영문 초록

The aim of this study is to investigate the meaning of emergence and implementation of an emergent curriculum. The result indicates that the meaning of emergence in an emergent curriculum centers around the understanding of child as a self-sufficient and revitalizing being based on naturalism and romanticism rather than a passive recipient of external stimuli. Emergence based on prograssivism and constructivism focuses on the construction of knowledge by collective communication and thought-provocation by engagement flows and analyses. The two distinctive traditions view the accommodation of the emergence of potential as the overarching framework for education. More specifically, the chief concern in an emegent curriculum should be in the promotion of meaning making and practice through discourse, negotiation, and communication in the environment and knowledge community where the child is situated rather than simply accommodating the child s knowledge accumulation processes.
