영아와 어머니의 스마트폰 사용습관이 영아의 사회정서 발달에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 영아와 어머니의 스마트폰 사용습관이 영아의 사회정서 발달에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 경기지역에 위치한 12-36개월 미만의 영아기 자녀를 둔 어머니 213명을 대상으로 영아와 어머니의 스마트폰 사용 실태를 알아보고 어린이집 교사를 대상으로 영아의 사회정서능력을 측정하게 하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 스마트폰 시작 시기는 13개월 가장 많이 나타났으며, 사용주기는 일주일에 1-2회가 가장 많은 것으로 나타났다. 평균 사용시간은 20분 이내이며, 주로 주말에 이용하는 것으로 나타났다. 스마트폰 사용법은 주로 어머니나 형제, 자매(친척 포함)에게 배웠으며, 동화․동요 동영상 시 청을 가장 많이 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 어머니들이 영아에게 스마트폰을 이용하게 하는 이유는 자녀가 원하거나 어머니의 여가시간을 확보를 위한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 영아의 스마트폰 사용습관과 영아의 사회정서 발달의 관계에서는 사회정서 행동의 외현적 문제행동에 통계적으로 유의한 관련성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 영아와 어머니의 스마트폰 사용습관과 영아의 사회정서 발달 관계에서는 어머니의 스마트폰 사용 습관이 나쁘면 영아의 외현적 문제행동이 높아지는 것으로 나타났으며, 어머니의 스마트폰 사용습관과 영아의 사회정서 발달의 관계에서는 사회정서 행동의 외현적 문제행동과 조절문제, 사회정서 행동 전체에 있어 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

This paper intended to examine the effect of the frequency of smartphone use by infants and mothers on the social emotional development of infants. To achieve the goal, 213 mothers who had infant children under 12 to 36 months old in Gyeonggi-do area were selected to examine the current state of smartphone use by infants and mothers, and day care center teachers were asked to measure the social emotional skills of infants. The result shows first, the greatest number of the surveyed infants started using smartphone when they were 13 months old, and the greatest number of infants used smartphone once or twice a week. Average time of use was within 20 minutes, and weekends were the time they used smartphone most frequently. Infants learned how to use smartphone from mothers or siblings (including relatives). The most preferred option was watching children’s stories and songs. The reason for mothers to let their infants use smartphone was either the children wanted to use it or mothers wanted to secure leasure time. Second, as for the relationship between the habit of smartphone use by infants and their social emotional development, there was a statistically significant relationship with external behavior problems in the item of social emotional behavior. Third, as for the relationship between the habit of smartphone use by infants and mothers and the social emotional development of infants, bad habit of smartphone use by mothers increased external behavior problems of infants. As for the relationship between the habit of smartphone use by mothers and the social emotional development of infants, there was a significant effect on external behavior problems in the item of social emotional behavior and the overall social emotional behavior.
