『용비어천가』 주해문의 ‘事見上’ 유형 고찰

국문 초록

이 논문은 『용비어천가』에 본주 88회, 협주 포함 총 105회 나오는 ‘事見上’을 고찰하여 『용가』의 정확한 해석방법의 일환으로 제시하고자 집필하였다. 『용가』에는 125장의 노래중 제1·2장을 제외한 모든 장에서 배경사화를 볼 수 있다. 이는 노래의 의미를 이해하는데 배경사화의 역할이 그만큼 중요하다는 것을 방증한다. 노래를 제작하면서 배경사화의 중첩을 방지하고자 사용한 기법이 바로‘事見上’이다. ‘事見上’은 『용가』의 주요한 서술 방식 중 하나로, 이전의 관용적인 용법과는 달리 다양하게 활용되었다. ‘事見上’이 처음 보이는 『용가』 제4장의 ‘狄人與處事見上上第三章也’ 협주에는 ‘事見上’이 노래의 모든 배경사화가 이미 제시됐다면 해당 장의 한시 첫 구를쓴 ‘●●●●+事見上+上第●章也’의 형식으로, 노래 일부의 배경사화가 앞에 서술됐을 때 해당되는 어구나 절을 발췌한 ‘●●+事見上+上第●章也’와 같은 형식으로 유형을 나누어 활용되었음을 밝혔다. 이러한 변별점을 토대로 전자는 사화일치형으로, 후자는 사화부분일치형으로 명명하였다. 사화일치형은 ‘事見上’ 진술문만으로 주해가 종료되고, 사화부분일치형은 ‘事見上’ 진술문 앞뒤에 ‘〇’ 표기와 함께 다른 사화가 이어진다는 외형적인 특징을 지니고 있다. 이에 대한 이해 부족으로 그동안 연구자들도 혼란을 보이기도 했다. ‘事見上’의 유형을 분석한 결과, 사화일치형은 총 77회의 가장 높은 빈도를 보였으며, 사화부분일치형은 총 11개장에서 확인할 수 있었다. 개별사화 단위에서도 ‘事見上’은 활용되었는데 스토리와의 상관성에 따라 사화강화형과 사화부가형으로 구분된다. ‘~~(본주)~~事見上第●章’ 형태로 8회 보이는 사화강화형은 사화의 서술 중에 스토리와의 긴밀한 관련을 가질 때 활용하였다. 스토리의 부가적인 설명이 필요할 때 활용한 사화부가형은 ‘~~●●●●(본주)~~●●●●事見上第●章’의 형태로 9회 보인다. 그리고 주해의 분량이 많은 장에서 보조적인 사항의 정보를 제공하기 위하여 활용한 18회 보이는 ‘事見下’는 사화보조형으로 분류하였다. 이처럼 다양한 유형의 ‘事見上’은 사화 축약, 정보 제시, 장간 유기적 연결, 각인과 집중 유도 등의 기능을 수행하고 있다. ‘事見上’은 배경사화의 존재를 명확히 지정하여 노래의 배경에 대한 독자들의 자의적인 해석을 경계하고, 배경사화를 최대한 자주 제시하여 조선의 개국이 천명에 있음을 각인시키려는 세종의 의도에 부합하는 기법이며, 『용가』의 권위와 존엄성을 지키는 보루라는 점에서 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 따라서 ‘事見上’은 주해문 서술에 핵심적인 기법이며, 『용가』의 정확한 해석에 매우 중요한 요소라고 하겠다.

영문 초록

In 『Yongbieocheonga(Yong-ga)』, ‘事見上’ appears 105 times. ‘事見上’ was used for prevention for repeating of historical story, which was made for understanding Korean Song or Chinese Poem. ‘事見上’ means ‘Refer to front pages’, which had been used for annotation of the Scriptures or historical books. However, ‘事見上’ in 『Yong-ga』 has differences from general ones in others. Therefore, in the Chapter 4, it is analysed the details about the small annotation of ‘狄人與處事見上上第三章也’. On the result of this study is as followings. In the Chapter 4, ‘~~事見上上第●章也’ sentence is explained that there are two types. If all historical story of song exist historical story in front Chapter, this is the match type of historical story. And there are not any other historical stories in context. If partial historical story of song exist historical story in front Chapter, this is the partial match type of historical story. And there are ‘~~事見上上第●章也’ and other historical stories with ‘〇’ in context. Therefore, it can be classified into the match and the partial match type. In addition, ‘事見上’ which was utilized in historical story is not explained in the Chapter 4. The reinforcement type of historical story as ‘~~(big annotation)~~事見上上第●章’ is written when the understanding about the details or important situation for the context in the historical story. The added type of historical story as ‘~~●●●●(big annotation)~~●●●●事見上上第●章’ is written when the additional information, such as cases, characters, management system, and so on, is offered without being directly related to historical story. And the ancillary type of historical story as ‘事見下’ appears 18 times. ‘事見下’ was used for reference details of back pages of the chapter which has large amount. ‘事見上’ in 『Yong-ga』 has various functions such as contraction of the historical story, and control information, and so on. And ‘事見上’ warns readers about arbitrary analysis or misunderstanding of historic story and song. Therefore, ‘事見上’ has significance in not only the guidance for correct understanding but also the bastion of the dignity and the authority of 『Yong-ga』. In conclusion, ‘事見上’ is an useful method for writing annotations and reading. Therefore, the explanation about ‘事見上’ is the same with the explanatory notes for reading correctly.
