국문 초록

본 연구에서는 기업지배구조(대주주지분율, 외국인지분율)이 감사품질(감사시간, 감사보수)에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위한 실증분석을 수행하였다. 가설 검증을 위해 2002년부터 2011년까지 한국거래소에 상장되어 있는 기업을 대상으로 총 10년 동안 3,453개(기업-연도)의 표본을 사용하여 연구를 진행하였다. 실증분석결과 첫째, 대주주지분율이 낮을수록, 외국인지분율이 높을수록 감사시간은 많이 소요 되는 결과가 나타났다. 둘째, 대주주지분율이 낮을수록, 외국인지분율이 높을수록 감사보수는 많이 책정되는 결과가 도출되었다. 이러한 연구결과는 본 연구에서 설정한 가설을 모두 지지하는 결과이다. 본 연구는 감사인이 상장기업들의 감사보수와 감사시간의 결정시 기업지배구조와 같은 피감사 인의 특성을 사전에 고려하고 있는지의 여부를 검증하는 연구로서 의의를 갖는다. 하지만 본 연구의 한계점으로는 표본의 선정에 있어 더 많은 표본자료에 의한 추가적인 연구가 요구된다.

영문 초록

This study examines how corporate governance is associated with audit quality. Major shareholder s holding and foreign shareholder s holding can be viewed as a proxy of the Corporate governance. And audit hours and audit fee are a proxy of the audit quality. And we investigate whether auditors take into account corporate governance, a proxy for the accounting information. The analysis results shows the significant negative association between major shareholder s holding and audit hours, audit fee respectively. Second, foreign shareholder s holding is positively associated with audit hours and audit fee respectively. The study makes mainly some contributions. Different to precedent works which focus on usefulness of accounting information, this study attempts to provide empirical evidence for corporate governance and audit quality. The results of this paper suggest that corporate governance gives a good signal in terms of usefulness of accounting information. Therefore, this study is expected to provide implications to regulators, investors, company that interested corporate governance and audit quality.
