로뻬와 띠르소의 희극에 나타난 상호텍스트성

국문 초록

로뻬 데 베가와 띠르소 데 몰리나는 특히 순수희극 분야에서 그들의 극적 재능을 유감없이 발휘하였다. 그런데 이 두 극작가가 발표했던 희극작품들에서 여러가지로 유사한 측면들이 많이 발견되고 있다는 사실은 상당히 흥미롭다고 할 수 있는데, 이중에서도 특히 그들의 대표적 희극이라 할 수 있는 『과수원지기의개』와 『궁전으로 간 수줍은 목동』은 서로 다양한 측면에서 놀라울 정도로 공통점이 많이 발견되는 극작품들이다. 이 두 작품은 그 저술 연대가 공히 1610년에서 1615년 사이로 추정되는데, 본 논문에서는 이 두 희극작품들 간에 나타나는 ‘고귀한 신분의 여성과 그녀의 비서 간의 사랑’과 ‘거침없는 여성과 소심한 남성’이라는 기본적 구도의 유사성과 ‘이국적 공간과 신비로운 궁전의 생활’이라는 공통적인 낯선 배경, 그리고 ‘부조리한 관습에 대한 풍자와 비판의 메시지’라는 측면에서 두 극작품 간의 상호텍스트적 양상을 규명하고자 한다. 또한 이러한 상호텍스트성이 가능하게 되었던 배경으로 줄리아 크리스테바, 조너선 컬러, 캐서린 벨지로 이어지는 상호텍스트성에 관한 이론들을 적용함으로써 그 이론적 근거가 마련될 수 있을 것이며, 이 두 작품 간의 상호텍스트적 양상을 형성하였던 사회 문화적 담론으로 당시 스페인사회의 새로운 미학적 흐름이었던 바로크적 가치관과 선천적 신분제도에 대한 비판과 같은 사회이데올로기적 담론을 선정하여 분석하고자 한다. 결론적으로, 이러한 같은 시대의 같은 사회의 문화적 담론의 영향으로 서로간의 유사성을 형성하는 일련의 극작품들이 점차적으로 형성됨으로써 당시 스페인의 연극은 상호텍스트성을 바탕으로 하는 연극의 하위 장르가 자연스럽게 형성될 수 있었던 것인데, 다시 말해 상호텍스트성이야말로 당시 스페인연극의 하위 장르를 창출하는 하나의 중요한 수단으로 작용하였다고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

Lope de Vega and Tirso de Molina fully displayed their dramatic abilities in the area of pure comedy. It is pretty interesting that the comedies presented by those two playwrights show various similarities to each other. Especially, their representative comedies, El perro del hortelano and El vergonzoso en palacio show astonishingly many things in common with each other. These two works are estimated to be written between the 1610s and 1615s. This paper aims to examine the intertextuality between those two works in the aspect of the similarity in the basic structure as 'the love between a high-class woman and her secretary' and 'a feisty woman and a timid man', the common strange background as 'the life in the exotic space and the mysterious palace', and 'the satirical and critical messages on the irrational customs. Also the theoretical basis can be established by applying theories of the intertextuality including Julia Kristeva, Jonathan Culler, and Catherine Belsey. As the sociocultural discourse forming the aspect of intertextuality between them, it aims to choose and analyze the socio-ideological discourses such as the baroque values which were the new aesthetic flow in the Spanish society of the time, and the criticism on the innate status system. In conclusion, a series of plays forming the similarities to each other was naturally created by the influence of the sociocultural discourses in the same period of time. Therefore, there could be a sub-genre of plays based on the intertextuality in Spain at that time. In other words, the intertextuality worked as an important way to create the sub-genre of Spanish plays of the time.
