국문 초록

이 글은 이병도가 1923년 9월 28일부터 1924년 2월 24일까지 『동아일보』에 연재하였던 「조선사개강」에 대한 것이다. 이병도는 「조선사개강」에서 문화를 강조하였다. 그는 삼국, 통일신라 및 고려가 자신의 고유한 문화를 바탕으로 외래의 문화를 수용하여 나름대로의 문화를 발전시켰다고 주장하였다. 이병도에 따르면 불교가 당시 문화의 발전을 촉진하였다고 한다. 그는 당시의 유적과 유물 가운데 동양 제일의 것이 있었음과 백제의 문화가 일본의 아스카시대의 문화에 큰 영향을 주었음을 지적하였다. 이병도는 문화의 계승이라는 측면에서 삼국-통일신라-고려로 '조선사'를 체계화하였다. 「조선사개강」은 '개조론'이라는 사상적 흐름 속에서 집필된 것이었다. 이병도는 이를 통해 식민 조선의 청년들을 계몽하려고 하였던 것이다.

영문 초록

This paper is on Yi Byung Do's Introductory Lectures on Chosun History, which was published serially in the Dong-A Ilbo(東亞日報) from september 28, 1923 to February 24, 1924. Yi Byung Do emphasized culture in the Introductory Lectures on Chosun History. He asserted that culture of Three Kingdoms(三國), Unified Silla(統一新羅) and Koryo(高麗) accepted other cultures on the base of the identity of their own cultural heritage and developed culture of their own. According to Yi Byung Do Buddhism advanced the culture of that periods. He pointed out among the remains and relics of that periods there were the greatest in the East and the culture of Paekche(百濟) influenced strongly on the culture of the Asuka period(飛鳥時代) in the Japanese history. Yi Byung Do organized Chosun History as Three Kingdoms-Unified Silla-Koryo in the perspective of culture succession. The Introductory Lectures on Chosun History was written under the trend of argument of social reconstruction(改造論). Yi Byung Do aimed to enlighten youth in colonial Chosun.
