As revealed by many studies of the genre of Bildungsroman, the literary image of family after the modern age usually functions as the reduced model of one's own country or society. In other words, such an image of family serves as oedipal structure. The social identity of the hero in Bildungsroman as a growing person is often depicted as being developed within the confines of close, dynamic relations with his family members. In a model of oedipal family, the symbol of father contains such negative hidden meanings as the premodern value systems, capitalism, religious dogma, colonialism, imperialism, totalitarianism, nationalism, real socialism, and other ideological implications, while the growing subject is represented as a hesitating person between the resistance to father's generation(Anti-oedipal trajectory) and the reconciliation with him, which implies the negotiation with reality, i.e. the Symbolic. The plot structure in which the heroes experience traumatic memories but overcome them in the end only to attempt a flight is the unifying element of subtext in all ex-Yugoslav bildungsromans which show apparent differences though. Therefore all sorts of flight attempted by heroes in the course of his moving into the stage of maturity from immaturity, of knowledge from innocence, of fullness from lackness (through the confrontation with the evil) are to be interpreted as an attempt to deconstruct the infinite reproduction of violences, which takes its shapes in the works as a searching for an alternative world to an oedipal one. The majority of the ex-Yugoslav bildungsromans are designed on the matrix of spiritual journey from the Symbolic to the Real. Though exist differences in the strategies of flight among writers, ex-Yugoslav bildungsromans have the common characteristics of anti-oedipal narratives of otherness that have the intention of decentering the dominant regime and taking flight, thus enabling subject to lead autonomous lives. In this respect, it is possible to argue that ex-Yugoslav bildungsromans are more close to those of Korean literature than to west-european models which emphasize the ideal of civil harmony with the regime more than resistance to it.
