입학사정관 평가를 위한 학교생활기록부 정성적 평가 모형 탐색

국문 초록

고교교육 정상화와 대학의 학생선발권을 위해 등장한 정책이 입학사정관 제도이다. 입학사정관을 통한 전형의 목표는 기존의 전형요소로 활용된 수능성적이나 내신의 한계를 넘어서, 학생들의 학교 생활과 관련된 요소들이 포함되어져서 학생들을 다면적, 종합적으로 평가하는데 있다. 학교생활기록부의 교과영역은 현재 대학 입학에서 전형요소로 사용되고 있는데 반해, 비교과영역은 대부분 계량화 하기 어려운 질적 자료이기 때문에 제대로 활용되지 못하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 학교생활기록부의 수상실적을 중심으로 그 동안의 양적 접근을 넘어서 학생의 정보적 특성과 의미를 고찰 하였다. 본 연구의 분석 결과 학교생활기록부에 기록된 교내상이 89%, 교외상이 11% 정도를 차지하는 상황이나, 실제 대학입학 전형 요소로써는 교외상만이 수상실적으로 수용되고 있다. 수상실적을 통해 학생의 재능과 열정, 기여도, 지속성, 리더십 등을 살필 수 있는 모든 정성적 내용이 수용 되어져야 한다. 이와 함께 특별활동 영역의 의미도 살펴보았다. 정량화하기 위한 도구로 비교과 영역들이 활용되어진다면 수상실적등의 비교과 영역 반영을 최소화 하게 된다. 정성적이고 포괄적인 평가 방법을 이용해 학교생활기록부의 모든 자료가 학생을 표현해주고 알려주는 자료로서 가치를 가지고 활용될 수 있을 때 입학사정관 제도는 의미 있는 제도로 정착 될 것이다.

영문 초록

This study examines the college admission system and its reliance on standardized test scores. Instead, the college admission system should consider a synthesis of standardized testing, such as the SAT and high school GPA, and student abilities demonstrated in addition to these standard measures. For a long time now, the high school GPA and SAT scores of student have been used as the primary tool to determine which high school students are admitted to college. But special activities and community outreach by the student have not been adequately included in admission decisions because they involve qualitative data that is hard to evaluate. This study seeks to broaden the debate about the attributes of candidates for college admission and offer tools that admission officers can use in the admission process to assess those attributes. First, leadership skills, persistence, talent, and passion for learning should be included in admission evaluations of students. Also special activities within the school curriculum should be considered as well. If data is collected from school records on admission decisions and evaluated, a more meaningful college admission system can be developed.
